Ashland High School Alumni Association Scholarship Fund

Thank you Founding Donors!

Thanks to the generosity of Ashland High alumni and supporters, the Ashland High Alumni Association has reached its initial $50,000 fundraising goal, officially launching the Ashland High Scholarship Endowment Fund. Our Founding Donors made this important milestone possible, and we are deeply grateful for their leadership and belief in Ashland High graduates.

Reaching $50,000 marks a powerful beginning, not the finish line. Endowments are designed to grow over time, and a larger fund is needed to ensure the investment earnings can sustainably support a minimum of three $3,500 scholarships every year for Ashland High graduates—year after year, for generations to come.

We will continue to build this endowment so that scholarships are largely funded through annual earnings rather than year-to-year fundraising. Every contribution strengthens the fund, increases future scholarship support, and helps secure a lasting legacy for Ashland High students.

Our long-term goal is to grow the fund to a level where annual earnings consistently provide at least three $3,500 scholarships for Ashland High graduates. Over manyyears, we hope the Alumni Association can add more scholarships and eventually larger annual scholarship amounts.

Thank you for helping us launch the dream—and for continuing to help us grow Scholarship Endowment and strength scholarship support for generations to come.

Once a Grizz….Always a Grizz.

Ashland High Alumni Scholarship Endowment Fund Your Questions Answered

Why was the AHSAA Scholarship Endowment Fund created?

The Scholarship Endowment Fund was created to ensure a stable, long-term source of funding and to expand both the number and size of scholarships awarded each year.  Our goal is to increase the scholarship amount by $500 annually until reaching $3500 per recipient: $2,500 in 2026, $3,000 in 2027 and $3,500 in 2028. Given the escalating cost of post-secondary education, these annual increases will have a greater impact.

What are the Scholarship Fund Accounts?

The Scholarship Fund consists of two subaccounts:

  1. Annual Scholarship Fund

  2. Scholarship Endowment Fund

Because we raised $50,000 in 2025 and have adequate funds in the Annual Scholarship Fund for the next three years, we are currently focused on building the Endowment Fund which has an annual spending payout that will range from 10-50% of the previous year’s net earnings.  The AHSAA’s goal is to engage a broad base of alumni donors that spans multiple class years - all united in supporting the next generation of Grizzlies through annual scholarship donations.

How are the Scholarship Fund Accounts Managed?

Harfst and Associates, Inc., an Ashland investment firm, was hired to manage the Scholarship Fund investments and to advise the Board on their fiduciary responsibilities in the management of the Fund’s monies.

What are the Scholarship Application Criteria?

AHS graduating senior*

  • 3.0 minimum GPA

  • Financial need per FAFSA or ORSAA determination

  • Other considerations include extracurricular activities, first generation college students and demonstration of commendable personal attributes (e.g., resilience in overcoming significant obstacles.)

* Recipients of a GED earned through AHS are eligible for scholarships if test scores are determined to be equivalent to a 3.0 minimum GPA.

Scholarships must be used at public or private non-profit post-secondary institutions (universities, colleges, trade and vocational schools) in Oregon or elsewhere.

Is Your Scholarship Donation Tax Deductible?

Yes. The Ashland High School Alumni Association is a 501(c)(3) organization EIN #81-1650848.

Does the AHSAA have employees? No.  All Board and Scholarship Advisory Committee members serve as volunteers.
